Surging Sea II
About
Second of the “Surging Sea” paintings. The dots-and-dashes style works well to render the complicated surface textures of a surging sea. In this way, waves can be seen forming into crests in the bottom right corner of the piece. The rocks that jut out of the water are convincingly shaded because of the high-contrast values chosen. The trees beyond are in even deeper shadow, near black, but a closer look reveals the complex mix of reds and greens creating the illusion of black.
