In this piece the artist experiments with under-sea subjects, the main focus being the blue starfish. It is resting on a shelf of coral. Using the dots-and-dashes style, Roon constructs the ribbed texture of the coral using dots painstakingly painted in neat columns. This way the texture of the coral reads not just as ribbed but also bumpy.
